Sead Kolasinac sends a message to Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil after agreeing to join the Gunners
Sead Kolasinac says he is excited to get to know Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil after agreeing a deal to move to The Emirates.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina international will become the first signing of the 2017 summer transfer window at the Emirates Stadium when he completes his move to Arsenal from Schalke 04 on 1 July.
The 23-year-old is rated as one of the Bundesliga’s most promising defenders and the new signing will provide competition for Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal at left-back.
Arsenal already have one former Schalke player in their ranks – Ozil.
The Germany superstar began his career at Schalke before moving to Werder Bremen and then Real Madrid in 2010.
Ozil has become a key member of Arsenal’s team since his club-record £42.5m switch to The Emirates from Real Madrid in 2013.
And new Arsenal signing Kolasinac has revealed that he has followed Ozil’s career closely given his Gelsenkirchen roots.
“He also came through the academy at Schalke, went to Werder Bremen, had a great World Cup and then went to Real Madrid,” Kolasinac is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard.
“From there he’s come here. We’ve all followed his career, especially the boys who come from Gelsenkirchen, where he was born. We’ve all followed his career.
“I spoke to our old coach, Norbert Elgert, who has a close relationship to him. He informed me about Mesut and said that he will welcome me really well here.
“I’m looking forward to getting started and being able to get to know the boys.”
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a place in the Champions League.
